SEND

Nether Edge Primary School is committed to ensuring all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum whatever their gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, needs or abilities.

We work very closely together across Mercia Learning Trust by taking positive action to ensure that our settings make appropriate provision through curriculum planning, delivery and assessment for children of differing abilities, alongside encouraging children to be involved in their own learning and to be aware of their targets.

You can find further information about SEND at our school in our SEND information report and policy.

Specialist Resource Provision

We opened a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) in September 2024. This provision is at the heart of our school.

Our aim is to ensure that every child within the SRP has access to a curriculum that is carefully planned and delivered to meet a range of needs. Many of the children follow an Early Years curriculum supported by the Autism Education Trust Framework. This takes place in a purposeful and supportive environment, with staff who understand and respond to those needs. As a school, we are committed to providing opportunities for the children to meet their full potential.

It’s important to note that our SRP is different from an Integrated Resource (IR) as the children experience individualised amounts of integration where appropriate. These are meaningful and tailored to each child.

To access the SRP, children need an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with a primary need of Communication and Interaction – Autism, at level four (or five) on the Sheffield Support Grid (SSG).

All the children in Moonstone class are pre-verbal or they are in the early stages of language development.

The provision has 15 places for primary aged children who live in the locale.

If you would like to find out more about or visit our Specialist Resource Provision please contact the school directly. We strongly recommend that you arrange to visit our setting prior to consulting for a place.
