Our geography curriculum follows the National Curriculum and is carefully designed to build essential knowledge and skills that children will use now and in the future.

Lessons are sequenced so learning is revisited and remembered, with our ‘Remember More’ strategy helping to embed key concepts and address misconceptions.

In Key Stage 1, children develop a strong understanding of the UK and its physical and human features, expanding to the wider world in Key Stage 2.

Reading anthologies are used to link geography with reading and writing, supporting vocabulary, map skills and critical thinking.

Over time, pupils become confident geographers who can analyse, problem-solve and consider their impact on the world around them.

Nursery

Woodlands, savannah, jungle, dinosaurs, under the sea, pirates, transport

Children learn about different environments and the animals that are in them. They learn about volcanoes and swamps as features of a place. Children learn about the living things they may find under the sea. They learn that pirates used maps to find things. Children learn about different modes of transport and how they travel.

Reception

Woodlands, farm and jungle
